exploring the little things

Because the little things always add up to something big.

For most of life, nothing wonderful happens. If you don’t enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are that you’re not going to be very happy. If someone bases his happiness or unhappiness on major events like a great new job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn’t going to be happy much of the time. If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness.

A New Direction

I’ve decided to take this tumblr in a new direction. I’ll continue reblogging, but I’m also going to post more of my own words. I will probably write mainly about the positives in my day to day life. I refuse to focus on the negative that happens to me. This isn’t to say I’m going to blithely assume my life is perfect or that I’m going to ignore any bad or annoying thing that’s going on, rather, I’m going to reframe and do what I can with the situation at hand in an attempt to focus on the beautiful things in life rather than the morose and irritating.

I have a craving to work out on the elliptical machine, but I’m not a gym member. In fact, this urge often strikes. What to do?
